GIVANNI'S

This restaurant has AWESOME Italian food. I've enjoyed everything I've ever tried here. The pasta is fresh and everything is always cooked perfectly. I had the pasta la jolla the last time i was here and it was delish. It was fresh and flavorful. Next time I need to satisfy my Italian craving, i will def be coming back here.

POP'S ITALIAN BEEF

If you're ever walking around downtown in the ped mall, Pop's Italian Beef is a great place to stop and eat. It makes for a quick, cheap lunch and the people working are always super friendly. The italian beef with peppers is awesome and I highly recommend trying it.

MONICA'S ON THE STRIP

I'm a big fan of Italian food and have only eaten at Monica's a few times but it never seems to satisfy my craving. The last time I was here I ordered the lasagna. It was bland and somewhat runny. I was really disappointed because I didn't remember my previous experiences being so bad. The service was friendly but the food needs some work.

INDIA CAFE

This is a great spot for lunch and I love coming here. The service is always friendly and the food is yummy. They only offer a buffet which is great because you get to try a little bit of everything. The only complaint I have is that I wish they would offer more meat dishes.

Pizza on Dubuque

I love this place! The slices are huge, the pizza is yummy and the service is always friendly.

SAM'S PIZZA

I love the calzones here, they are a definite must! The service could be a little better though.

CATHERINE'S~Shopping

I love shopping here! This is one of the best places to shop in Iowa City, they have something to offer for everyone. I especially love coming here when they have a sale, you can get name brand jeans for cheap!

A & A Pagliai's Pizza

Pagliai's pizza is okay but I've had better. I've been here quite a few times and have never had outstanding service or food. Everything is standard but I think they have the potential to be better and I always hear such great things about them but still have yet to experience it. Pagliai's is in walking distance from downtown so my friends and I come here quite a bit. But I'm waiting for the day they impress me with their food.

JOHN'S GROCERY

The grocery selection here sucks. The only good thing about this place is their alcohol selection, however I'm not old enough to take advantage of it yet. Therefore I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are 21+.


HEYN'S ICE CREAM

By far the best ice cream in Iowa City. The ice cream is rich and creamy and they have awesome flavors. I come here everyday and try something new. My day wouldn't be the same without it. I guarantee you will love it if you come here.

Bread Garden Market~Everything You Could Want

I really love this place! They have everything you could ever want including homemade ice cream (which is delicious). I always buy my groceries here, I like that they sell organic foods. I also buy food from their bakery; it's always fresh and delicious. Sometimes I'll stop by to get something from their deli or salad bar. The food here is great and it's located right downtown so it's only a walk away from my apartment. And every morning on my way to class, I stop and get a coffee from their coffee bar. I would recommend coming here; you'll find whatever you want.

UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

So far I've loved my experience at the University of Iowa. I've had great classes and great professors and I've met some amazing people. I know this is one of the most important experiences in my life and I'm sad to know that it will be over in two years, give or take. Not only have i experienced great academics but I also love the night life here and love the feeling of being a hawkeye. GO HAWKS!! :)

Jimmy Jack's Rib Shack.....Not Too Bad

I'm not really big on eating ribs but I've heard a lot about the ribs here so I decided to eat here the other day. For being fast food ribs, they actually are pretty good and I like how you can choose from so many different sauces. My overall experience here was good and I'm sure I'll be back.

REJUVENATING....

HOT HOUSE YOGA, iowa city, ia

I've always wanted to try hot yoga so I decided to go to Hot House Yoga, I have a couple friends who go here and they also have a great special for new clients where you pay $20 for one week of unlimited yoga. I went to my first class on Monday and have gone every day since then and I absolutely love it!!! I've played sports and worked out my whole life but after these classes I've felt rejuvenated and have felt better about myself. I plan on getting my membership this coming week and I'm excited to make hot yoga a part of my lifestyle.

WHITEY'S ICE CREAM

I love coming to Whitey's for ice cream. They are local and located right downtown. The service is always friendly and welcoming. They have a really great selection of different flavors of ice cream that are unique and you can't find anywhere else. My favorite flavor is Graham Central Station but I always like to try something new whenever I go. You can also go with a shake, smoothie or sundae; whatever you choose I guarantee you won't be disappointed. When you visit Whitey's you get a little bit of that old fashioned feeling in upscale downtown Iowa City.

Joseph's Steakhouse

My parents came to visit me before school started this past weekend. I love when they come visit because they always take me out to eat at great restaurants. This time we ate at Joseph's Steakhouse on Friday night. I have been wanting to try this restaurant forever and was so happy when my dad chose it. My whole dining experience was great from the moment we walked in. The decor is classy and the atmosphere is warm, it was very inviting. We were seated right away which was nice, especially since my dad hates waiting. For an appetizer we shared the Lobster Spring Rolls, which were fantastic. For my dinner I got the Shrimp Scampi and the Seafood Bisque. They were both delicious. My father had the Filet Mignon and my mother had the Salmon and for our sides we shared the Potato Lyonnaise and Steamed Asparagus, which we all enjoyed. Not only was our food wonderful but so was our service. I will definitely continue to eat here and I know my parents will too, my dad said they would be coming back next time they were in town.

I just love going out to eat!

Hamburg Inn

Hamburg Inn was one of the first places I ate at after moving to Iowa City. I had heard so much about it from my sister and her friends I had to try it right away. One thing I like about it is that you can eat breakfast at any time during the day, I'm a big fan of breakfast and can eat it all the time. However, the food here is only okay, nothing really stands out to me. The service is friendly and prompt but the food seems somewhat bland to me. So far I haven't tried anything that makes me want to continue going back but my friends continue to drag me there. The food isn't horrible or anything it just doesn't do it for me.

The Summit Restaurant & Bar

My friends and I eat here occasionally, mainly because of the location and we like to sit on the patio when it's nice out. The food and the prices are okay. I normally get a wrap or calzone, they are great and I'm always satisfied. Last time I ate here however, we got the spinach-artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was really runny. I was really disappointed in it and probably won't order it again.

Z'mariks Noodle Cafe

I really enjoy eating at Z'mariks every now and then. My favorite dishes are the Spicy Peanut and the Mac N Cheese. I think this is a great place to come if you are craving pasta, it's quick, it's inexpensive and its very good.  You also get a decent amount of food for what you pay for and you can add chicken, shrimp or tofu to any type of bowl for about $2 extra.  They seem to always be busy during lunch and dinner time but the turnover rate is pretty quick.

The Vine Tavern & Eatery, Great Food for a Dive Bar

I think the vine is a great place to go to watch any type of sports game. My friends and I mostly go there to watch football. It is a dive bar and the atmosphere is dark but the food is fantastic. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, super hot, with fries. They have the best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I have ever had and they have amazing fries. I love coming to the vine, it is a great place to go to chill with your friends and to enjoy great food.

Shorts Burger & Shine

This is one of my favorite places to eat for lunch.  There is a big variety of burgers and they are some of the best in Iowa City.  Everything is fresh, which makes it even better. The service has always been great and the prices aren't bad. I tried this place a few weeks ago and have came back one to two times a week since then. I highly recommend Shorts, it's quick, inexpensive and the food is delicious.
